Welcome... This is my little blog about stuff related to photography or around the subject of photography. I like to tinker with things as well as learning things to help me be a better photographer or better tinkerer? In this spot you will see some of my experiments and projects as well I'm sure some mishaps or outright failures. I hope you find here something that is interesting to you and drop me a note. Remember, I'm not an actual photographer nor have I played one on television.

Three things off the list...
Just acquired last week an old MX and in black... not quite in working order. One of those "as-is" deals, but the CLA and stuff was not too bad. Feeling the charge of getting that done, I also started looking for an old KX and got one. I've always wanted to add a KX to the collection and this one was a little high priced for a 85% working, but it looks great. I found this with the well touted K series SMC 55mm/1.8 and in perfect shape. It jammed at slow speeds and the timer was stuck too. Upon closer examination was the discovery of sand, lots of grains. The quick dry cleaner was hosed into the camera to raise out all the bits and the face and mirror assembly was pulled off. Final cleaning was rendered and the re-oil of the important bit was completed in that same evening (Friday). And while my repair mojo was still going, I decided to wrestle with the repair of my old trusty 40mm pancake the coming Sunday. That's right, the Pentax-M 40mm/2.8. Not the sharpest, but the handiest in my collection. The re-cementing of the paired elements with UV-cement was a little tricky, but not as hard as the thought it would be. So far, test show very good image quality.
