I've been working on this project for about a almost two weeks (proto-III). This is possibly the fastest turn around for a project to date. My original (prototype I) utilized a simple flat washers cut to the correct lug size and then clamped in with screws, but attaching the washers without drilling the washers made for an unstable wood handle. Eventually it cracked.
Proto II - was essentially the same with the holes drilled into the washers.
Proto III - what is going on now.
The swing latch was a hope to give quick positive locking to the grip. The swing almost worked, but the mount points for the wood was too narrow and so the strength was to be compromised.
Now a simplified lock plate was cut, however, the mount points would still be tricky and will require strategic cut. The key to the lock and the placement holes will make this design really good.
Welcome... This is my little blog about stuff related to photography or around the subject of photography. I like to tinker with things as well as learning things to help me be a better photographer or better tinkerer? In this spot you will see some of my experiments and projects as well I'm sure some mishaps or outright failures. I hope you find here something that is interesting to you and drop me a note. Remember, I'm not an actual photographer nor have I played one on television.
