I get a few of these and without fail, the person never answers... maybe they don't like what I thought they meant? Maybe, the answer didn't provide a magic fix. The problem is that the first time contact e-mail just never has enough information. Often times it seems to omit some facts. My usual reply is for more information rather than a full diagnosis...

Interesting that it works with only one speed. Well, first I'll have to say my usual stuff... I am not a trained Pentax repair technician nor have I played one on television... diagnosing issues is a tricky thing when hundreds and thousands of miles/kilometers divides us. Still...I like puzzles.
So, I need some background.
How long you've had camera, who had it before you (ebay, private owner, friend, pro, amateur), has it been repaired prior to your ownership, does it show signs of being banged around or water damage.
Just based on the brief description, my guess is that its been stored for a long time in one spot and the place may not have been very secured from damp or similar cause was that the camera was used by a professional studio and went on a outdoor shoot that was very wet.
Do let me know what you can.
