Gripe of the day.
Have you ever gone through a forum to see someone's or your own question that you posted asking for help and to only have someone buzz in with a quick unhelpful or vague answer. In some cases that person will have a snarky tone as he or she was being bothered by having to answer the question.
For many beginners, forums are the gathering places to trade ideas or find helpful opinions. However, you will always see a self appointed guru and he or she reflects other more helpful postings to sound like that was what he or she meant to say. I get trashed for "saying too much" when the subject happens to be what I happen to have dealt with at some length. If you have not noticed, I like to repair camera for fun. Not perfect I am, but if I can share something to help out... why not. It bugs me that someone who is really lost would be greeted with a link and no other statement or direction.
I also, have been corrected about my errors stated and try to thank the person for pointing it out. Some are very nice about it and I respect their knowledge and try to remember to cite his or her expertise. Others are very clear that they do not appreciate my giving out some sort of secret or something. A few will try to trash what I say and it would be clear that they did not read the entire piece I had written.
In the end it is unavoidable anywhere you go. Where the varied levels of knowledge and dense interactions from all walks, then share a common interest that bread some to need to point out others as inferior.
