To the person who ask "what was up with the nothing"... I apologies. Been having a heck of a time with illness. I've been doing better and can hold tools more steady now.
Old silver button 6X7 with a factory MLU... yes, as based on the 23400 to 23401 parts that were present when I first opened it. More about 23400 and 23401 later.
What I've known so far about this camera.
This one I received as a gift for use or parts...Thanks Mike. It arrived with a badly jammed shutter and the mirror was not returning at all. Adding a battery did nothing and the winder had an issue with the regulating ratchet...but I'm getting a little ahead. So, I gave it a minimal CLA and reset the shutter dials and it started working properly...a bit. However, soon after it suddenly stopped working and it seemed that something gave way inside. The body is now limp dead in the winder cycle. I'll now offer it up as a subject for demonstrating the basics for opening to access the critical parts for oil and greasing as well as the important contacts to keep clean.
Some quick ground rules prior to proceeding:
If you've never opened a camera, taken a camera apart, tinkered with small mechanical devices, then you should consider carefully prior to performing any of the procedure that are to follow. I am an enthusiast in camera repair. I've never been trained formally or have had proper instruction in the world of camera repair. This is solely an exercise in practical learning for me in the hopes of better understanding and maintaining my cameras. If you are willing to possibly render you equipment inoperable, then proceeding with any information listed here is your understanding that you will accept full responsibility to damages, loss or even injury incurred during your own attempts at camera repair.
