It looks like it's going to have three times the wires to de-solder. I am really looking forward to seeing what the true mystery of the "sticky mirror" is all about. It is common to encounter decayed foam of the mirror damper or the rubber cushion being gooey or the little pad. The challenge is to investigate the other causes as well as solving and successfully closing the camera when done. I have also started experimenting with methods for creating new mirror bumpers out of other materials. Due to medical issues, I've planned a little time off and hope to start the project within the first week of October, but I may throw some stuff about other tinkering. Judging from my tiny audience, I don't think anyone will mind the suspense.
I am planning to risk my camera and may destroy it in the process. If you are not comfortable working on a complicated camera or any camera, then the information within here should not be attempted. Please give Eric a call and he will solve it for you with the greatest skill or check your local area Pentax tech.
I would bet Mr. Hendrickson would not approve of what I'm doing.
